Happy Thanksgiving!
To all my American readers, I hope you have a very happy Thanksgiving. May your day be filled with family and friends and all the food be delicious!
Anyone who would care to share their special Thanksgiving Day recipes, I'd love to hear them.
Prizes for the QUEEN OF SONG AND SOULS countdown and celebration are starting to go into the mail. The first batch went out last week. The next batch went out Monday. I'm still waiting on a few things--and replenishment for some books I ran out of, some posters, and a few wall plaques. All books sent to US locations went via Media Mail, so it may take a few days to reach you. I will post a notification when all items have been mailed.

Happy Thanksgiving!
We have 2 family recipes that started showing up a few years ago and now are a must at our celebration. Drunken Turkey--turkey filled with a cut up onion, some cloves of garlic, and a small bottle of Shiraz; put in an oven bag and cook. The other is pumpkin sausage pinwheels--crescent roll dough smeared with pumpkin pie filling and crumbled, cooked spicy pork sausage. Roll, slice, and bake.
Have a very happy, healthy, and safe Thanksgiving, Cheryl!
Here's my favorite holiday recipe:
Strawberry Salad
2 containers (16 oz. each) sliced strawberries (I buy frozen and thaw them)
1 package (12 oz.) pecan halves
1 can (8 oz.) crushed pineapple
2 small boxes strawberry Jello
3 medium bananas, mashed
1 cup boiling water
Directions:
In a large square bowl (I use one about 3" deep), mix the Jello in water until completely dissolved. Add strawberries, pineapple, pecans, and bananas. Stir gently until well mixed. Refrigerate overnight. Enjoy!
i would really like to know if their will be a 5th installment and when. the book really left the story very much unfinished.
Amy - those sound yummy!
Maibeeme - thanks for the recipe!
Justme - Yes, there will be a fifth book. It's called TAIREN SOUL. I have tried in every way i could think of to let readers know QUEEN was split in two due to time and page count considerations. It's mentioned in the "To my readers" letter in the book itself and on my home page, my "Books page", my facebook, and my myspace.
When I complete the first draft and turn it in, I will announce the release date on all my public information sites (website, myspace, facebook, etc.)
I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving!
As for recipes, I discovered an awesome, really easy one over Thanksgiving. My aunt had made these cookies that originated in a local cake shop here in Milwaukee, WI.
First what you need are:
1 package of Ritz Crackers (I use low-fat)
1 package of Mint Chocolate Chips
Peppermint Topping
You put the mint chocolate chips in a bowl and heat until completely melted. Then dip the Ritz crackers individually in the chocolate. Put the dipped crackers on parchment paper to cool and sprinkle with peppermint topping.
These cookie/crackers taste amazing. The first time I had them I would never have guessed they were made with Ritz crackers! They taste a little like Girl Scout Thin Mints. Plus, with the low-fat crackers they can be somewhat healthy! haha
Happy Holidays!
Yum, those cookies sound delicious!
Hi Cheryl,
Hope you had a lovely Thanksgiving.
Unfortunately I don't have any Thanksgiving recipes that I can share - we don't celebrate Thanksgiving on my side of the world.
Mum and I have just some sorrel for Christmas (another name for it is roselle, but sorrel's the name that most Jamaicans call it by), we use it to make our traditional Christmas drink by the same name and will make it next weekend as that's the first weekend in December.
