Twenty Questions was incredibly fun - but you wore me out! Holy cow, you're good!Today I'm going to slow things down a bit and let you do all the work by answering a question of the day.
And the question of the day is....What is your favorite scene from any of the first three Tairen Soul novels (LORD, LADY, or QUEEN)?

36 Comments:
My favorite scene in Lord is in the park when ellysetta screams at rain and says get out of my head and he says "flames woman you pack a punch" also the forshadowing prior to this scene when braid reminded him of an angry tairens tail I laughed so loud!
Lady my favorite scene was when ellysetta discovered her powers in the solaris
King my favorite scen was when bell crept up and stole the blades serious but funny too
and i would comment on queen but i dont want to spoil it for anyone who hasnt read the books
Hmm I think I'd be hard pressed to be a favorite. I guess for LotFL it would be the first meeting of Rain and Elysetta, along with the scene where all of her quintet is sitting about singing and opening gifts. Or maybe the court scene ...
Lady I think would be Gaelen's entrance into the city and 'purging'. Of course his subsequent admitting who he is to one and all is highly entertaining.
In King I think it'd be when Steli decides to try and "knock". Highly entertaining.
In Lord: When Elly heals Bel's soul.
In Lady: When Elly finds her Tairen.
In King: When the Amarynth blooms
All three of these are my second choice, my first is always the healing of Gaelen's soul. On a scale of 10, it's at least a 14 :)
My favorite scene of all time from any book EVER is when Rain and Ellysetta are with the Tairen and Steli starts licking Ellysetta dry.
Previous post was posted by Beckey. I can't seem to remember not to hit the enter button
Most that are mentioned here and a couple more.
Steli playing chicken with Rain and Ellie
When Mrs B sees her daughter for the first time - thinking she is bright as an angel with no evil in her.
When Ellie touches Bel and restores part of his soul because she cant bear to hurt his pride
My favorite scene is from King of Sword and Sky when Steli shows she's learned how to knock and nearly topples Ellie and Rain out of bed. I laugh so hard every time I read it.
My fav scene is in Lord when Rainn comes to court and he hugs Eli after the trial about the betrothal.
In lady my fav scene is when Eli comes into her power
In King when Eli visits the Tairens for the first time
It seems we all agree on many of the very best scenes. I know I do! From Lord when Ellie eased Bel's soul and his heart wept again. From Lady it would have to be the restoring of Gaelen's soul. From King it was a lighter moment - Steli knocking! That scene brings a smile to my face on the darkest day and for that a huge Thank You Cheryl!
My favorite scene is in Lady, I believe, when Rain and Ellie go flying in the moonlight. I love how you described her dress in that scene, as though woven out of starlight.
Hmm, I agree with what a lot of people have said, so I'll throw in some new ones.
In Lord, I love when Ellie and Rain play stones for the first time and he uses magic to win :)
In Lady & Queen, I loved all the scenes with Shan and Elfeya because of their undying love through everything they'd been through. I looked forward to their scenes just so I could learn more about them.
In Queen, I loved when Ellie sang to the kitlings and they responded from in the eggs.
Just a few new ones. Like a I said before, I whole heartedly agree with what's already been said.
All I can say is Ditto! Not only that this is a very difficult choice to make but also on all of the scene selectioN! ~Gia~
I'm probably making my scene too long but I think my favorite scene is when Ellysetta decided to save the Rasa, not realizing what she's doing to Rain, and then when Rain takes her to the abandoned Elvish city and what ensues ;) It filled with such strong emotions, especially as all of the Rasa bloodswear themselves to Elly and when Rain rushes her to the city because he can stand it no longer and he must get the smell of the lu'tans off of her.
Or when the Tairen sing the fire song.

As Ally said, my favorite scene has to be in Lord, when Elly plays Stones with Rain in public. How he learns so fast and how he changes the game to his favor all while winning Elly over. So adorable :)
I think I've answerd this a couple of times before on your blog, but I don't tire of doing so since it gives me the urge to reread those scences again, which is never a hardship :D.
Some favourite scences may have changed, but for now they are:
In Lord my favourite scene is the first meeting between Rain and Ellie. WOW!
In Lady, it is hands down when Ellie's powers are unleashed in the Cathedral.
In King, hmmm, that's a bit harder ... but if it's only one scence then I would have to say when Ellie heals the tairen kitlings. My favourite quote from that scene would be when Rain has called Ellie back from the Well, she tears his leather tunic to see if he has been marked, and Rain declares,
"How could he lay claim to a soul that already belongs utterly to you? There is nothing I would not give, no part of me I would not sacrifice, no law I would not break if it meant keeping you from harm. Kem'reisa sha ver. My soul is yours. Do with it what you will."
WOW! Sigh.
(Yes, I had go and reread this scence, hence the exact quote :D).
My favorite scene is when Rain first finds Ellie and weaves the Fire cone around them. Then he lets the healer in and then shuts them out again.
Hmm, it's hard to pick just one favourite scene but one of my all time favourite scenes is the one in King of Sword And Sky, where Steli nearly dumps both Rain and Ellie off the bed when she attempts to 'knock'.
In Lord my favorite scene is the first meeting between Rain and Ellie. Loved it....

Let's see. My favorite overall is the end of Lady where Ellie's glamour is destroyed and her true self revealed.
In Lord, I love the scene where Ellie, Rain and the city kids play stones, especially the end when Ellie and Rain make their bet.
In Lady, I also have a soft spot for Gaelen's restoration.
In King, I love the part after the Fire Song when the pride is playing in the heated pool and afterwards, Steli decides to dry Ellie.

In all of the below, these are just some of my favorites (I have so many).
In Lord of the Fading Lands, a great moving scene is where Elly heals Bel's soul. So very much pain, wonderful hope! Beautifully written and very moving.
In Lady my favorite scene is when Elly heals Galen and he gets to hold his sister for the first time in a thousand years.
In King one of my favorite scene is when the Den gets taken over by the High Mage. I have to agree with Keiran and Rain on this one, what a little bloat toad! It was great to see him get it.
Most of the ones mentioned already are favorites of mine. Foe some reason the scene in King where Ellie repeated the Warriors creed in Feyan is very memorable for me. I read that scene at least 4 times.
Misty posted about Ellie screaming at Rain to get out of her head, I loved that scene, too.
My favorite scene overall is actually an early one...when Bel bloodswears himself to Elysetta in LORD. I just really like it.
From LADY, my favorite scene is where Ellie heals Gaelen's soul, and he wakes up and looks at "the miracle he'd come to destroy, " and cries. I love that quote!
From KING... hmm...I guess I like where Steli-chakai growls mother-warnings at the Masan for threatening Elysetta-kitling!
I'll echo Misty...I have a DEFINITE favorite scene from QUEEN but will withhold to avoid spoilers.
I would have to say, my all time favorite scene is Steli knocking.
But from Lord I love when Rain and Ellysetta play stones, but not for how Rain turns the game with magic, but rather how Elly blows in his ear to throw his toss off. This is really the first time you see the playful side of Elly's tairen.
A lot of my favorites have been said already (healing of Bel, Gaelen's soul, the first game of Stones), but one of my favorites is when Ellie runs from Rain in the museum straight into the room dedicated to the scorching of the world.
~Rach
My favorite scene of all so far is still in Lady when Ely restores Gaelen's soul
my favorite scene is in KOSS. when ellie and rain finally come through the mists and both of their tairens have been roused. then tajik instinctively puts his hands on his red steel...ellie says to this perceived threat. (after she has invaded his mind and frozen his body with only a look) "aiyah, you should fear us. we are fierce. do not threaten us."
almost anytime either one (rain or ellie) takes off into a wild rage i throughly enjoy it:)
~amanda
p.s. my favorite would have been in queen too...if we could discuss it w/o spoiling it for others.
Oh so many! The first time they met, the first kiss, when Ellie restores Bel's soul, when Ellies heritage is revealed... so many!
its a credit to your skill as a writer that there are so many wonderful scenes)
Steli knocking is definately one of my favorites, love a good laugh
also like the way you show what it is to be the ultimate trumates in Elfeya and Shan.
mak...
The scene from King of Sword and Sky of Steli knocking came immediately to mind when I thought about which was favorite. I see from the other comments that I am not alone in that.
I am fond of tragic scenes.
When Sian and Torel die was the first scene that almost moved me to tears.
When Rain is having dinner with Lord Teleos and he meets the other guests and realizes that their alliance and friendship represents a gift from his long-dead friend Shanis...to me that's a really poignant moment. It's another example of how even though Rain considered himself the least-worthy, and even when his people had no real reason to believe in him, there were those who were slowly arranging the world so that One Day he might have the support he needed.
Archie likes when Rain beats the crap out of Gaelen just because he can, and because Gaelen deserved it, even though Rain had already realized that they weren't really weaving Azrahn.
Also, Kieran screaming defiance at the mountain crashing on him. I think that's a great scene. (The scene is now nearly ruined for me after reading that some like to read romance into that scene. I have an extreme aversion to PEDOPHILIA, and so now I find it disturbing to think there's even the barest inkling of romance with a NINE-YEAR-OLD. She's nine. Give her a little chance to hit puberty first, PLEASE.)
And, without naming a particular scene, I'm fond of the quiet moments between Elfeya and Shan where they encourage each other and reaffirm their love and hope, even knowing their bond is both their blessing and their curse. So sad.
I like to cry. I like a good scene that makes me cry.
This question...is impossible. But I can tell you that the scene where Ellysetta restores Gaelen's soul never fails to move me, and all his arrogance towards her official quintet never fails to make me laugh.
Kudos on another impossible question, Cheryl.
I have way too many favourites from each book.
Though one I have to mention from Lord is the meeting between Ellie and the Moon of Celieria.
And I'm way too tired to mention any more tonight. Let's just say that pretty much all the scenes I had mentioned for your "What should be drawn?" question, and more besides. xD
king-would have to say when eleysetta is being truth spoken in the mists......
Lord - When Ellie heals Bel's soul.
Lady - When Ellie comes into her powers.
King - When Ellie heals the rasa.
-PW
Well, I have two favorites in Lord, but they are connected to each other. They are: When Rain and Ellie are in the park playing stones and they make the bets, both their Tairen sides come through and the other is, the fist time Ellie flys on Tairen back.
In Lady my favorite scene is when Ellie comes into her true powers and Rain realizes that she is a Tairen Soul as well.
In King, my favorite is when Steli shows Ellis that she's learned how to "knock" and dumps them on the floor.
So many of these are my own favorite scenes.
I'm so glad several people mentioned Steli knocking. :) I totally didn't know that was going to happen until it showed up on the page!
