I've been quarantined with the flu for close to a week now (the consequences of living on a campus of germ-ridden college students). It was such a hardship this past week having to miss all my classes and re-read the Tairen Soul novels... :) Unfortunately, yesterday I was still too sick to brave the general public and instead had to enjoy the celebrations on the Cheryl's blog and finished reading King for the umpteenth time. Luckily, today I was fever free and I went straight to our local Bloomington, IL Barnes and Noble. Queen is now resting comfortably on my bookshelf along with Lord, Lady and King. I almost wish I was still sick so I could skip class tomorrow and read the day away...~ Ally, Bloomington, IL
The night of release day, I check online at my local Borders, Barnes & Noble, and independent bookstores (the ones that have websites, anyway). ALL of them say "Not in stock," to my dismay. I figure they just haven't updated the sites yet, as it was the first day, so I decided to go for it anyway. I struck out for the nearest Borders (in Los Angeles, CA), where the computers still say "Not in stock" and the books aren't in the shelves. Thank goodness one of the employees was nice enough to look in the back for me. :)~ Alhambra, CA
After a long day I was looking forward to picking up QUEEN at Barnes and Noble. It was around five o'clock and having checked Barnes and Noble on my mobile for QUEEN in its store inventory, it didn't look hopeful. Apparently they didn't have it in stock, but alas, I went any ways, hoping they might have it. Nothing, or so I thought. I scanned the shelves for a few minutes the browsed the romance inventory and finally resorted to asking an attendant (I almost never ask for assistance since I know the store like the back of my palm) However I didn't get that far. A woman right on wheeled up a small cart and on it.. you guessed it. Five fresh copies of Queen, directly from the back to be shelved. I squeed and I pried, seeing as I just couldn't wait until she put them on the shelves, exclaiming, "Oh just the book I was looking for!" She gave me an odd look, but handed me a gleaming copy. After a rough day of changing sleep schedules for a shift from graveyards back to days, couch buddy Sam I Am and I are back from an uneventful evening trip to Hastings for Queen and ready for a night of reading.
