51 Comments:
I don't really know if these count. I will sometimes chat with the Chatelaines and Writers at play. If I get bored I sometimes go to different authors websites looking for recommendations for good reads.
Does your blog count?
Ha ha my participation is usually limited to reading my weekly Harlequin updates. I also scan some of my favorite author's websites on a regular basis to see what new books are coming out!
I used to interact with The Nightworld when I was younger, which was (might still be) a group set up by those who loved reading works by L. J. Smith, however I'm not sure if it counted as an official readers group.
Nowadays I tend to skim author websites to get updates on upcoming releases and sometimes in their blogs I can find interesting new authors to try in their book recommendations.
I try to check out my favorite author's websites/blogs etc every couple weeks. Other than that, no.
-Jilly
I have a list of favorite author’s and I check their websites once a week for news and updates and recommendations.
The only other site I visit regularly is “Leontine’s Book Realm” because I’ve found her interests (book likes and dislikes) to mirror my own. I’ve learned to trust her judgment implicitly and since she reads my kind of books for a living, I find I save a lot of money on books I should not buy and have found many jewels in hiding. I visit her website three or four times a week.
This is the first "blog" I've participated in.
I'm a member of Christine Feehan's online community, apart from that then I normally follow the blog's of my favourite authors that way I can keep up with what they're doing and what next book of theirs is coming out ^-^
I follow several blogs which I really enjoy. I also belong to a few author yahoo groups, yours being one of them. The other two are Lisa Sherian and Lorelei James, two totally different types of authors as one does fantasy/adventure and the other erotic contemporay western romance.
Terri
I go to Ladies of Lallybroch, because i enjoy their comments on the Diana Gabaldon Outlander series. I go to Lynn Kurland's site, sometimes. Other authors that I like.
I visit the websites of my favorite authors and check their blogs on a regular basis but I haven't yet joined any discussion groups.
I have an account at shelfari :) I love it!
Julie Pritchett
I check out authors websites/blogs and other reader communities discussion boards. Nothing other than that.

OMG!! I LOVE MY YAHOO GROUPS!!!
Talk about finding new books and new authors and release dates and finding freebie contests!
I have met the most wonderful, smart, sarcastic, lovely ladies
and one dear gent LOL.
I belong to the yahoo groups of:
Christine Warren
Dakota Cassidy
MaryJanice Davidson
Michele Bardsley
Paranormal Romance (all what 6? groups - lots of new writers posting excerpts)
Shelly Laurenston
Judy Mays
Christine Feehan
Alyssa Day
Sharon AShwood
prolly some more ...
And I still have an OMG! moment when the author replies to something I said. LOL Ya'll are like my rock stars - but I promise not to get stalker-ish.....much. LOL which is good cuz I so can't see me hightailin it ovah a fence for anybody!
Well I follow your website and blog as well as that of Kresley Cole, Lynsay Sands and Kerrelyn Sparks. I used to follow Christine Feehans but her latest books have turned me off her so I don't bother anymore. I'm also a member of GoodReads.com.
Hey this is OT - but I wanted to share.
http://samhellion.com
They are giving away free Halloween short ebooks. Last year they averaged about 15 page stories.
last year they also gave away Christmas/Holiday stories and Again at Valentines Day.
You have to send an email to get the download link - but the books are in adobe pdf so you don't need an ereader program :) enjoy!
Except for this blog, no, not really. Sometimes, I check out the Booksmugglers.com (I won a copy of KoSS from them last year!) and I used to check Harry Potter webpages before the seventh book came out, but not much since then.
If am feeling really antsy and feel the need to find a leisure book to read, I usually check out amazon.com/ca, chapters.ca for book recommendations, but other than that, I don't follow any online reader groups or authors.
No, I just read over each authors website that I really like. I pretty much haunt this one the most though!
I don't participate in any online readers groups for two reasons.
One, I like to read at my own pace, and reading for a deadline takes some of the fun out of it.
Two, the books I read are entertaining, but few have enough subtext to support literary analysis.
Your books definitely could support a book group discussion, however, just like Harry Potter books, Elizabeth Hoyt's romances and JR Ward's vampire books. Yours and Ward's have characters with interesting shading, and they struggle with difficult morality questions. Harry Potter has the historical and mythological overlay, and Hoyt's romances have an overlay of another story that give the surface story depth.
As a side note, I saw a reader reviewing JR Ward's series who loved the romance but skipped over the "Lesser and Scribe Virgin stuff"--in other words, the very things that give the story depth. Boggles my mind, but there you are.
Nope, I basically just stalk the websites/blogs of my favorite writers. :) Or I follow them on Twitter, if they're on it.
I don't belong to any readers groups. I just have some author and reviewer blogs in my RSS reader so I can keep up with the postings. I have to work sometime so I can continue to support my reading habit!
I have a shelfari if that counts, but I don't belong to any groups on it. I love reading reviews though. I check out my favorite author's websites on occasion, and I'll read some of the Amazon dicussion threads, but so far I've been a lurker, not a poster.
~Rach
Hmm not really, unless the forums on Christine Feehan's website counts. ;-P Or of course C.L. Wilson's yahoo group.
I used to way back when authors rarely have their own websites. However now that more authors have either their own site or blog I follow/participate directly on their sites vs reader groups
I joined the TwilightMoms forum after reading the Twilight series. There are many other discussions there about other books and series - including C L Wilson's Tairen Soul series. It's always nice to talk about the books with other women who have also come to love them. Many of those women have read a lot of the same books I have read and/or helped me find new series to enjoy.
No. I have not participate in any on-line readers groups. I have discussed books with friends on-line.
Josie
no i don't. but i do check on my favorite authors websites every week or so.
I write reviews for Night Owl Romance and I belong to the Bookaholics Romance Book Club online. Other than those and checking out my favorite authors blogs, I just check out author websites or the library website.
Aside from this one? not really. I don't really interact with authors on the computer at all, if I feel compelled to write, I do so through snail mail.
Unfortunately not--unless you could count this one, of course. xD
I might do it in the future, though.
I love to visit blogs and chatters groups when I have time. Some which leap to mind would be:
Dear Author
Good Bad and Unread
Romance Junkies readers yahoo group
no
I only started going on your web site because my aunt gave the first three books to me to read. I didn't realize that book for didn't come out yet till I saw the web site on the back of your book. Now I am hooked to blogging for the contest everyday. I never thought about on-line groups till now.
this is the first authors website i have posted on ,so no not really...
being honest-don't hate me- i download the books(free) and if they hold my interest i buy them..
some books i cant get here so use amazon.
I read several blogs daily - yours, Running With Quills, Jill Shalvis (she's a hoot), Dear Author, and a Linda Howard Bulletin Board. I don't know if they all count, because I don't usually contribute, I just read. I comment here and on the Howard Board, but that's pretty much it for me. Occasionally I visit links from other blogs, but I don't do that often because I've come across several (and the DA site has a lot of these) that attack a lot of things I often like. Rather than lose an author I enjoy, I often prefer to not know a lot about them. That's what happened with me to Suz Brockmann and I don't really want to do that again.
This Monday, 19 October 2009, starts a new book online read at eharlequin.com
Book : SEDUCING THE VAMPIRE by
Bonnie Vanak. This will continue each monday for eight weeks.
Looking forward to it.
I do not participate in any online reader groups. I do check my favorite authors' websites for the next books and to read excerpts.
-PW
Author's websites/blogs and Shelfari are the extent of my online readers groups... if those even count? lol :)
Patterson1219
I do belong to some reader groups.
Writeminded
James Gang
Joey Hill
and I do follow particular authors.
Nope. I'm a student and I'm super busy with school and reading :) I think if I did do that I would become addicted and that would be a bad thing.
-Katie
Yes, I do. Two of my favorite Yahoo reader's groups are Romance Junkies and ACFW.
I visit a wide variety of author sites/blogs almost every day. I work at a library and this was my way to keep up with current releases. Now I do it because I enjoy it.
I don't really belong to any on-line reading groups. I spend enough time visiting sites and discussing books at work.
Forgot to add "I chat with the Chatelaines."
I check the blogs of a few of my favorite authors, and have occassionally tracked down the websites of a few more to find out if they have a book out, but this Blog is the only one I've submitted to.
I am signed up for the Writerspace newsletter. It's cool because every month they have contests for free books or gift cards or other things, so once in a while I apply to the contests.
April C
sometimes i do at Romance Junkies and Samhain yahoo group. I check in with writerminded and shelly Laurenston's yahoo groups. I don't post daily but I do participate from time to time.
Actually, I don't. I'm one of those people that could spend all the hours in a day chatting online, looking stuff up, reading blogs, commenting on things...so I make it a point not to.
On the occasion, I will participate in a few threads on Amazon. Usually it's something where I couldn't help myself, the topic just caught my eye. And I try only to do it at Lunch when I'm at work, this way it's a short period of time, and I don't get super caught up.
Yours is the only blog I'm paying attention to right now.
I just try really hard to keep everything in it's place, and computer stuff can easily overshadow real life stuff, so I don't even start.
I'm always watching the sites of my favorite authors for new releases and for news about my fave series :P ...but as for actual groups...not really...I don't have time right now for more than a few quick visits online here and there since I'm completing my Master's in Library and Information Science... boy does that take up a lot of my time... some days I swear the research will kill me... hopefully after I become a librarian I will get paid to participate in some online groups (^_-)
I'm on so many groups and follow blogs, too many to list. If an author I read has a group or blog, I'm likely on it. I also belong to a really great reader group for fans of historical romance, though we also chat about many other genres, especially paranormals and fantasy.
no online grps and this is first time posting) just check to see when next book comes out, dont like to read them to early if know gonna have to wait to long for the story to finish, dont like frustrating myself if dont have to:P
mak...
Almost every day I make a habit of checking my favorite author's blogs and websites. I'm part of Karen Marie Morning's blog and usually LUNA and MIRA books. Other than that I participate often on the Deadline Dames site and Bitten by Books. I'm a big junkie for the paranormal romance genre. <3
- elise
not really. and this is really the only blog that i regularly check and participate in xD
This is the only blog that I comment on; although I do occasionally look at other authors' blogs when perusing their sites.
I am a member of quiet a few readers groups. It started with Christine's and from there it just expanded. Yours, Alyssa Day, and several for just different geners of books. Just Love Those Romance Novels, For the Love of Romance, Welcome to Temptation, and Welcome to the Darkside of Romance, I am sure there are others that I am not as active in. LOL
Melissa
