QUEEN Countdown - Day 18

"They sing the alinar, a hymn of thanksgiving for the blessings of the day."

It's October 18th, Day 18 of our QUEEN OF SONG AND SOULS release countdown!

Days until the release of QUEEN OF SONG AND SOULS: 9

We are counting down the days until the release of QUEEN OF SONG AND SOULS, book #4 of the Tairen Soul quintet. Each week, I'll be choosing winners to receive an autographed copy of QUEEN, so don't miss out!

How to Enter!

There are two ways you can win!

(1) Join the CL Wilson Announcement List. A winner will be drawn from the announcement list each week.

(2) Read the daily countdown blog here on Blogging the Fading Lands, and post a response to the "Question of the Day". Each Tuesday, I will choose a winner from the posters for that week. For each daily blog that you respond to, you earn one chance to win. (Multiple comments to the same blog still only count as one "chance to win".)

Once you post a comment, email feyreisa@live.com with your

(1) name,
(2) mailing address,
(3) email address, and
(4) the name you posted under (please sign your post if you post as "anonymous")

If I do not receive your information, your response to today's blog will *not* be entered in the weekly drawing.

Only one entry per person per day will be counted. Personal information will remain private, will only be used to contact the weekly winner(s), and will be discarded thereafter.

MORE PRIZES!!!!!!!!

We're into single digits in our countdown!!! To celebrate, I'm adding daily prizes to our giveaway.

Daily prizes to be given to winners selected from today's commenters:
(1) autographed LADY OF LIGHT AND SHADOWS poster
(1) autographed set of Tairen Soul collector cards (LORD, LADY, KING & the brand-new absolutely gorgeous QUEEN OF SONG AND SOULS - Card #4 in the series)

I don't really know if these count. I will sometimes chat with the Chatelaines and Writers at play. If I get bored I sometimes go to different authors websites looking for recommendations for good reads.

Does your blog count?

Ha ha my participation is usually limited to reading my weekly Harlequin updates. I also scan some of my favorite author's websites on a regular basis to see what new books are coming out!

I used to interact with The Nightworld when I was younger, which was (might still be) a group set up by those who loved reading works by L. J. Smith, however I'm not sure if it counted as an official readers group.

Nowadays I tend to skim author websites to get updates on upcoming releases and sometimes in their blogs I can find interesting new authors to try in their book recommendations.

I have a list of favorite author’s and I check their websites once a week for news and updates and recommendations.

The only other site I visit regularly is “Leontine’s Book Realm” because I’ve found her interests (book likes and dislikes) to mirror my own. I’ve learned to trust her judgment implicitly and since she reads my kind of books for a living, I find I save a lot of money on books I should not buy and have found many jewels in hiding. I visit her website three or four times a week.

This is the first "blog" I've participated in.

I follow several blogs which I really enjoy. I also belong to a few author yahoo groups, yours being one of them. The other two are Lisa Sherian and Lorelei James, two totally different types of authors as one does fantasy/adventure and the other erotic contemporay western romance.

Hey this is OT - but I wanted to share.

http://samhellion.com

They are giving away free Halloween short ebooks. Last year they averaged about 15 page stories.

last year they also gave away Christmas/Holiday stories and Again at Valentines Day.

You have to send an email to get the download link - but the books are in adobe pdf so you don't need an ereader program :) enjoy!

Except for this blog, no, not really. Sometimes, I check out the Booksmugglers.com (I won a copy of KoSS from them last year!) and I used to check Harry Potter webpages before the seventh book came out, but not much since then.

If am feeling really antsy and feel the need to find a leisure book to read, I usually check out amazon.com/ca, chapters.ca for book recommendations, but other than that, I don't follow any online reader groups or authors.

I don't participate in any online readers groups for two reasons.

One, I like to read at my own pace, and reading for a deadline takes some of the fun out of it.

Two, the books I read are entertaining, but few have enough subtext to support literary analysis.

Your books definitely could support a book group discussion, however, just like Harry Potter books, Elizabeth Hoyt's romances and JR Ward's vampire books. Yours and Ward's have characters with interesting shading, and they struggle with difficult morality questions. Harry Potter has the historical and mythological overlay, and Hoyt's romances have an overlay of another story that give the surface story depth.

As a side note, I saw a reader reviewing JR Ward's series who loved the romance but skipped over the "Lesser and Scribe Virgin stuff"--in other words, the very things that give the story depth. Boggles my mind, but there you are.

I don't belong to any readers groups. I just have some author and reviewer blogs in my RSS reader so I can keep up with the postings. I have to work sometime so I can continue to support my reading habit!

I have a shelfari if that counts, but I don't belong to any groups on it. I love reading reviews though. I check out my favorite author's websites on occasion, and I'll read some of the Amazon dicussion threads, but so far I've been a lurker, not a poster.

I joined the TwilightMoms forum after reading the Twilight series. There are many other discussions there about other books and series - including C L Wilson's Tairen Soul series. It's always nice to talk about the books with other women who have also come to love them. Many of those women have read a lot of the same books I have read and/or helped me find new series to enjoy.

I read several blogs daily - yours, Running With Quills, Jill Shalvis (she's a hoot), Dear Author, and a Linda Howard Bulletin Board. I don't know if they all count, because I don't usually contribute, I just read. I comment here and on the Howard Board, but that's pretty much it for me. Occasionally I visit links from other blogs, but I don't do that often because I've come across several (and the DA site has a lot of these) that attack a lot of things I often like. Rather than lose an author I enjoy, I often prefer to not know a lot about them. That's what happened with me to Suz Brockmann and I don't really want to do that again.

I am signed up for the Writerspace newsletter. It's cool because every month they have contests for free books or gift cards or other things, so once in a while I apply to the contests.

Actually, I don't. I'm one of those people that could spend all the hours in a day chatting online, looking stuff up, reading blogs, commenting on things...so I make it a point not to.

On the occasion, I will participate in a few threads on Amazon. Usually it's something where I couldn't help myself, the topic just caught my eye. And I try only to do it at Lunch when I'm at work, this way it's a short period of time, and I don't get super caught up.

Yours is the only blog I'm paying attention to right now.

I just try really hard to keep everything in it's place, and computer stuff can easily overshadow real life stuff, so I don't even start.
