No, I haven't been to either. Work or travel distance has always blocked my attending. Would love to go to a romance convention though !!!

Have plans to attend Dragon-Con in 2010. Yeah !!!!!

I've never been to a romance convention, but I've been to anime conventions and conventions for TV shows...do those count as fantasy? :D

Most recently, I've been to Anime Expo, Fanime, and Salute to Supernatural; all are super crazy and draining (financially and physically), but I love going to them nonetheless.

Yes, if Dragon*con counts, but it's a Sci-fi/Fantasy con so I suppose so. I went for several years but haven't been back since 2004 and I can't WAIT to get back.

No, I never have, there has not been one in my area that I have seen. This year expecially has been difficult because I have an infant at home who is breastfed and absolutely refuses to take a bottle. If I where to go to one I would want to go free of kids either by myself of with my friends.

I've never been to one, but if there was one nearby, say within 100 miles, I'd definitely go and experience something new. Do people dress up at them like they do for anime conventions? But since I live in northern Idaho that's unlikely. I'd probably even go if one came to Seattle since that's "only" 300 miles away.

No, I haven't been to either. Work has mostly been a culprit, although distance has been a factor too at times... I'd love to a fantasy convention some day though.

I don't know of any other conventions nearby or in my area, at least not ones with authors I enjoy reading.

being from new zealand, we dont get a lot of these. although richelle mead recently visited australia and i was gutted she didn't pop over here. wish more authors visited..... guess its because we have such a small population.

being a guy visiting a romance convention would be a no no, i just love the fantsy aspect of your books,as opposed to the romance-glad they are not mills and boonsy....lol.

I've never been, mostly because there hasn't been one right here where I could go. I take care of my parents, who are both in frail health, so I don't really get to travel much. But I think it would be great fun!

I once dated a guy who was a Trekkie, we went to a few Star Trek conventions. It was fun, but I haven't been in years. Interesting to see fans of all ages, and the money they spent in the auction room, amazing.

I haven't been to either... BUT I have been to an anime convention (Japanese animation, pronounced [annie-may]). Manga characters are also welcome, and many anime are based on manga (or Japanese comics). It was AMAZING to see all of the costumes. I had one myself and it was great because all sorts of people recognized the anime series it came from. Dressing up as your favorite character from an anime or video game is called
Cosplay
...one of my pictures from a convention - here I made the costume myself :) It was a blast!
I am already preregistered for next year! It is really a ton of fun seeing all the different outfits and the effort that people put into them.
This was really my first convention ever, so I think I am excited to branch out into fantasy and romance if I can fit it into my schedule :D

I got a chance to attend comicon in San Diego CA and experience a panel of new paranormal writers such as Jeanne C. Stein (who actually was from San Diego)Vicki Pettersson and Marjorie M. Liu . But at the head of the table was none other than Laurell K. Hamilton herself. It was fascinating to hear the authors talk about their experiences with their varous publishers. Then Laurell piped up and said that it was amazing to her that she has a rejection letter from every one of the publishers mentioned. How things have changed!
I also want to note that comicon had the nicest people of any convention/conference I have ever attended. No problems in any lines whether to get registered, get food or hit the john. People were just really delighted to be there.

I have been to one and, as far as I know, don't live by where they have them. But I've been interested in going to one for several years, because I enjoy both romance/fantasy novels and anime.

I have never been to romance convention. However RWA is meeting in Nashville next year and that is nearby (5 1/2 hours). I'm thinking of spending the week to volunteer and attend at least the librarian day.

i've been to both and loved them all. I will definitely be going to dragoncon next year and the signing at RWA cause both of those are close to me this coming year. I would love to go to RT one year but will have to save my pennies for that one. I've been to RAW and Lori Foster's Gettogether twice and loved them both. Am going to try and go to one or the other next year or to romanticon whichever has the most authors's i've never met lol.

Have never been to any Romance Convention--in fact, my "Gamer" Convention cherry was popped this year at PAX in Seattle. But unfortunately, I live in a pretty remote area in Saskatchewan, so we don't get any conventions here. I'd have to fly, like I did for PAX.

If I have enough money, I might try it at some point, though. Another new experience.

I haven't been to any, although from what I've heard on various lj's or blogs or even seen on YouTube, they look like a lot of fun.

Unfortunately, the big ones are a bit far away or simply out of my budget. I would love to go to Dragon-Con or Comicon. Or maybe one of the show or author-specific cons like the one they had for Twilight in Texas last year.

How sad, I totally missed this one. I was hanging out with my mom and my nephew, and totally forgot yesterday.

Sadly, I have not been to any conventions. I really really wanted to, but the last few years have been hard on us, financially, so it really wasn't much of an option.

I live in Southern California, so eventually I will be checking out ComiCon. But I have some close friends in Atlanta, so a dream of ours is to check out ComiCon and DragonCon in the same year.

This was supposed to be the year we did that, and I was super bummed to realize you were there, and I totally missed it.
