Lord of the Fading Lands - German Edition

So here is the cover of the German Edition of Lord of the Fading Lands.

While I prefer (of course) the inimitable Judy's fabulous vision, this Rain does indeed to have long, flowing black locks, and though there does not appear to be a curl to be had in Ellysetta's hair, I can't complain about the length or the fact that it is definitely auburn (though perhaps not the color of tairen flame).

From what I can tell, the title translates to something like "In the Enchantment of the Elfkings". I wonder what the Germans will do to differentiate between the Elves and the Fey, since Rain is now officially an Elfking. Hmmm...

All told, though, it's still pretty danged cool. :D

Okay, I'm not too sure I like that cover. My husband loves your books but we'd have to put a book cover on that cover! Anyway, hopefully, everyone will overlook the cover and read the story which I hope is translated well.

Merry Christmas

Interesting cover...
Anyways, congratulations!!! I hope you are publishing books for many, many years (and having them translated into other languages so others can enjoy them too) to come.

Merry Christmas,

Charity

Well, it's a beautiful cover, in it's own way. It reminds me a lot of historicals from the 80's for some reason. But that old adage about never judging a book by its cover is certainly true for this one! And I agree with you - the U.S. covers for all of your books are absolutely the best!

Merry Christmas!

No offense intended, but I don't like it. Looks too cheesy to me. I like the other covers infinitely more. Especially the cover of the fourth book. Which I am impatiently waiting for. :-)

ROFL everyone...I'm sure in it's day (um 1980s?) on a historical romance novel, this cover was sizzling. Hey, they got the hair color right! I'm thanking my blessings for that.

A friend of my has a cover where she refers to the hero as "Lobster Boy." Long story short, the heroine's hair was NOT red on the cover (and it should have been) so when my friend complained, the publisher's art department did a red wash on the cover. The heroine's hair turned a lovely auburn. And the hero came out looking like he'd passed out under a broiling sun and baked for half a day. He was practically neon. Oooh.

So, I'll take ebony haired hero, auburn missy, and no lobsters, thanks :) Rain the Elfking though....poor Galad Hawksheart. His throne has been usurped.

Omg,
I have to say that I really love Yorks covers more. if you think this cover reminds you of novels past you can rest assured - almost all "cheesy" love stories here in Germany get these cheesy covers. It's one of the reasons I prefer the original editions. I also really hate the translation of title and I shudder at the prospect of how the second book will be called. I'm so glad that I decided some time ago to always read books in the language they are written. It opens up a lot more for imagination as well as stays true to the initial idea behind something.

well. Still, considering everything, I'm very happy to see that there is actually a german version of this absolutely fabulous novel. My mind boggles on the possibilities for the last and fourth book. I hope we'll get to see an excerpt soon.

Greetings,
Jasmin

OK. I have to say something. The covers on these books are not right. The books are romances, sure, and the cover should reflect that, but they are too good for cheesy harlequinesque covers. In fact, I usually don't go for romances, and I love your books. they are far more then the typical urban fantasy sex fest. Maybe you should go with something distinctive, like then Charlene harris covers(her books are not half as good, but her covers make you want to buy them). People do judge a book by the cover, and you need to seriously get something that represents the magical famtasy quality as much as the romanse part. Its not right.

Have you ever thought of having an internet contest to design the cover? That would be so KOOL! It would keep people interested in the in between books time. You would just need to give one excerb that you think would make the best cover.
