*laughs* I've hinted at this before, but my absolute favorite scene would definitely be Ellie & Rain's first game of Stones, including the giving and receiving of both wagers. There's a playfulness and joy to the entire scene that makes me smile every time I read it, with just the right amount of seduction and fierceness thrown in to make little chills run up and down my back.

I loved the first time that Rain and Ellie met. The time when she and her sisters were waiting for them to parade through the town and Rain sensed her presence and flew down in a fury. That was the most intense scene for me. He was so defensive and protective of her but at the same time caring. That was the turning point for Ellie and it was the point in which sold me.

My Favorite scene from Lord? Hard question it would be easier to ask which of my kids is my favoriter and i can't answer that one either. But I'd have to say when Ellie stood up to the Queen. I nearly choked on my soda when i read that.

It would have to be when Ellie stood up to the Queen.... or maybe when she and Rain looked at each other in the Court. Or when the King told den that he couldn't have her... Okay there are too many I love the whole book. Pick just about any sceen and it was my favorite for one reason or another. OOOHHH I got one, When she healed Bel from the weight of killing. That was my absolute favorite. I tear up everytime i read it.

So many are my favorite, but the one that sticks out the most, is Rain transforming into his tairen form for the first time in front of Ellysetta. He wants to impress her, and he does with his great leap of air , flashing into tairen form looking majestic, and padded towards her. She is so impressed she wants to fly beside him, and he has to nudge her to get her attention. It is by far one of my favorite scenes.

It would have to be the first chapter when Rain was pitting his will against the Eye of Truth. I like that he was willing to endure such pain for the good of his people. It's also nice to see a touch of humility in him.

WOW! I won something? This NEVER happens to me, I am a pretty unlucky person in general so when I enter a contest for things like this I never expect anything, it's still fun though... so, WOW!!

I guess, if I HAD to choose, and please don't make me, my favorite scene would be one of the firsts. When Rain meets his truemate for the first time, his emotions are going all over the place, she is frightened yet he is determined to protect her. He forms that force of energy around them and just holds on to her. I guess that is my favorite just because it shows how lonely and incomplete life must have been for Rain to know to some degree what he was missing and then to believe he would never have it again and to suddenly have the other half of his soul within his reach. Frightening, all those emotions.

I also think this is my favorite scene because when I read this it was like, okay, now the story begins and I was excited and pumped for the rest of the book, more then ready for the wonderful adventure CL Willson had for us.

Congrats to all the winners! I have to agree with what everyone has written so far. These books are my favorite, I've read them at least every other month since last year. BUT...if I have to choose, well it is just after she stands up to the Queen and her mother scolds her and Belliard tells he she spoke like a true Fey. And then Bel cries out "Joy to the Feyreisa" and the four others respond by the same and then ALL the Fey's shout in unison "Joy to the Feyreisa" shaking the building. Then Lauriana says "Good sweet Lord of Light!". I can just picture the scene so perfect, it cracks me up every time!

Congrats to all the winners!
You mean we have to pick just one scene out of the book? That is almost impossible. Every part in this book was written and conveyed so excellently. Still...
I think my favorite scene in the book is one that's probably already been mentioned by others. The part when the Ellie is watching the parade as Rain and his people come into town. She is hurt and Rain shifts to his Tairen form in a rage ready to protect her even though he doesn't even know who he is protecting and from what. That first meeting is something else and was very touching. But then again so were so many other parts in this book. I just love this series and cannot wait until the King of Sword and Sky finally hits shelves. I plan to be first in line here to grab a copy.

I also love when they first met. The entire town was out to catch a glimpse of Rain and he just swoops down and lands in front of Ellie and her sisters. Really cool, I can see why she would scream tho.

OMG, I won a copy of King! Thank you, thank you Cheryl!

Picking just one scene from Lord is tough. I absolutely adore the scene when Rain swoops down and claims Ellie ... what an intense scene!

Rain and Ellie embracing in the courtroom just made me melt. Rain and Ellie playing stones and wagering made me laugh, Bel giving Rain a mental kick when he didn't compliment Ellie on her appearance before the dinner at the palace ... heck, practically every line in Lord is a favourite moment!

But, I think the turning point came for me, when I realized that Lord was going to be a keeper to the power of a twenty-five fold weave, was the scene where Rain, Ellie and her quintet are opening and cataloguing the wedding gifts and Ellie realizes just how valuable sheitanis are to the Fey.

Ellie's horror and fierce protectiveness at the thought of any one of her quintet dying for her, Bel's carefully hidden hope, Rain's firm gentleness when he told her she had to allow it or else turn an honour into a hardship, and then ... the crack about the keflee pot and it's matching cream pot. LOL, I went from being almost in tears to laughing in the span of a few pages!

Now I know I will have to spend the next two weeks rereading! Because from memory I can't pick a scene. I do remember how surprised I was with the freshness of the concept. I had become a bit bored with mainstream fantasy. And this book was fresh weaving fantasy, romance and paranormal nicely together. It introduced a totally new race that was absolutely believable. And that is a difficult thing to pull of. So I guess that is for now my favourite moment. When I realised that this was fantasy that grabbed me. I might change this entry during my rereading session!

There are just to many to chose from! The whole book is greatness!

But, if I had to choose just one that all of you have not mentioned it would be the scenes where she has been working with Master Fellows. He is getting her ready to be more "queenly" if you will and Rain has been away at a meeting with the nobles. When he comes back apparently Ellie was taking a break cause she is alone when he and Maryissa come back in arguing. After much prodding Rain has to admit to acting like a spoiled brat and throwing a huge fit because the nobles won't listen to him.
Long story short, Rain says he doesn't care what happens to Celieria and Ellie tells him she does and asks him as her mate/husband to do whatever it takes to keep the citizens of Celieria safe. So, of course since Rain loves her he agrees, just as soon as that happens Master Fellows comes in all emotional (cause he is so proud of Ellie) and tells her that she just showed the grace of a queen.
I really liked that because Ellie didn't see herself as a queen, she just saw herself as a common girl. That someone (especially Master Fellows) noticed that she had this ability to care about others and know how to get it taken care of took someone who was strong and demanding. I liked this part not just because of how Ellie felt, but because I think we all have some of those characteristics in us. We can be the "queen" of our homes and run them with dignity and honor to take care of those we are in charge of or our fellow man. ...Maybe I am just weird... that's definitly a possibility.:)

I too have probably read through the books many times and I don't usually do that (if it says anything, the covers of Lord and Lady are worn out and I am going to have to get new copies). They also sit on my keeper shelf instead of in a box.
And I too have trouble picking a scene. I think one of my favorites is the one between Bel and Ellie, where he creates the dress of Spirit and she 'hurts' him unwittingly.
Here he is, a powerful warrior weighed down by centuries of deaths, and he still says that even covered in ashes and dirt that Ellie would be beautiful to him and a credit to the Fey--and his subsequently offering his protection like he did (that was an especially powerful scene I thought).
I don't know why but that scene catches me every time--just the power of it, and how it really shows the depth of Ellie and the strength of Bel's nature.
What can I say, I love how well the book is written, on both story and character development. Many books have only one of those elements (e.g. good character development but 'tired' story development, or vice versa). 'Lord' and 'Lady' have both.

I think my favorite scene would have to be the one where Ellie faints after figuring out that Rain just called her his Truemate. I absoutley adored that scene. Although, Kelissande getting thrown into the water by one of the Fey Warriors is a very close second! Call me nasty, but I like seeing characters like that get what they deserve.

I'd have to say one of my many favorite scenes had nothing to do with ellie or rain. But with the queen Annoura and her favorite dazzle Ser Vale.

The scene when he presents her with the gift of special keflee and his attempt of seduction goes a bit awry.

I love the emotions i felt when reading the scene I could picture Annoura realizing that something wasn't quite right and her will to get to her husband before she did something she was going to regret.

It showed me that although she is a bit on the vain side and has had her brilliance dulled a bit by the eld, she still has control and could prove to be a force of her own to contend with once she is fully enlightened to the truth.

My favorite part of Lord was when Rain takes Ellie underwater and shares his world with her. After the whole scene takes place she is embarrassed at being so forward. She says " I don't know what came over me." and Rain replies "I don't know either, but I hope it comes over you again." It made me laugh so hard because that sounds exactly like something my husband would say to me. :-D

My favorite scene from Lord of the Fading Lands is during the royal dinner after Ellie has had one too many pinalles and then drinks the special rare keflee. I love how she gazes up at him with such love and longing and then their eyes meet and both are lost as well as the rest of the diners. My favorite line: I want. I need. I ache. I burn.
Seven bells is a very long time too. *snicker* Poor Rain

I must say that my absolute favorite scene was when Ellie starts to weave lust on all the nobles at the King's dinner. I liked this scene so much because the Queen got back what was coming to her since she tried to set Ellie up to be humiliated. That scene definitely made me eagerly await your next book of Lady.

Everyone has pain in their past. I think all of us have had times when something triggers that pain, and it all comes rushing back to the present...the memories, the emotions, the tears.

To me, Rain felt more human, and more lovable a character, when this happened to him in the Celierian Natural Museum of Art. The paintings of the scorching of the world brought it all back. His pain was transmitted to Ellie through their bond, and his touch. That scene was so well written that I could feel the hurt myself, and I am not embarrassed to admit that I cried as I read.

Just as poignant was the follow-up to that scene, when Rain called up Sariel's image in Spirit. Even knowing she was only a memory, he could not betray his bond with Ellie, not even for a kiss. I still feel a tightness in my chest when I read those pages.

I would defiinitely have to say when Ellie and Rain first met is my favorite. I agree with other posts I've seen, the emotional storm that Rain was going through was really intense to read. I really liked how he was so quick to defend Ellie.

This blog was especially fun for me, because I don't do a lot of chatting with people about my books and what worked for them.

I used to give my manuscripts to my sister and sit beside her while she read them (I was ostensibly reading a book, but really, I was waiting for her reaction to mine). Any time she laughed or whatever, I'd go "what? what part are you reading?" It was affirmation that I was doing something right.

In a way, the responses to today's question were a little bit like that. So thank you all :)

My favorite scene from Lord would be after Rain finds Ellie in the museum and he sends her home. Then he looks up at the paintings and remembers Sariel, but then can't kiss her because he has already recognized Ellie as his She'tani. This shows how devoted he already is to her and I love it!
