A friend of mine picked up Lord of the Fading Lands at the drugstore. We share books so she passed it on to me. Fortunately, when she discovered Lord, Lady of Light and Shadows was already released so we didn’t have to be tortured waiting for the next book. I know I am going to be DYING waiting for the 4th installment. Shoot - I feel like a kid counting down to Christmas now waiting for King of Sword and Sky, but I’m sure it will be worth the wait.
My two favorite genres are Romance and Mystery/Suspense. I like happy endings. I love books that stimulate my imagination, which is why I have been reading a lot of paranormal romance lately.

I've always liked to read and I think my Mother and Aunt had something to do with it. In school I'd go to the library for books almost every day. In Junior High I'd check out "Misty of Chincoteague" over and over or any Native American book I could find. My college library was a marvel to me! I read all genres. I just love to read!

I picked up my love of reading from my departed father. One of his favorite past times was reading. He passed away when I was 6, and I promised that I would always have a book in hand, just like he did.

I read Fantasy Romance, Romance, historical romance, murder mystery, lately been reading a lot of biography's (Elizabeth Taylor's is the most recent).

I just enjoy reading, and have been blessed with the love of reading from my father.

I have always loved fantasy, I began reading the Redwall series when I was in first or second grade, and last winter I stumbled upon paranormal fantasy (my husband found two Christine Feehan books in our backyard, sitting on top of a bale of hay - we live in the middle of a large city, so it was really weird) and I absolutely love it! One of those two found books was what led me to the Tairen Soul series, there was an excerpt from Lord in the back of it. After I read that, I knew I had to experience the whole book, so I checked it out from my library, then a week later read Lady. And now I am happily and hopelessly addicted. :)

My mom was a stay at home mom until I turned 6 years old. She read to me from the time I was born until I could read for myself. She said I started reading at 4 and I haven't stopped! Reading was my safety net, my Dad was not a nice man and sometimes I needed to escape reality. Now, I just love being able to go anywhere I want without having to leave my house!:)
I really like to read anything. I don't usually like Fantasy, but CL Wilson, got me hooked with those first two books, but I like paranormal romance, mystery, historical romance, and sometimes I like to read a good play.

I never remember not being a reader. In our family we read after dinner since I was raised on a ranch with no electricity (no tv either!).

I require a book to go to sleep. Well, any words in a row will do in a pinch!

My first memory of reading goes back to reading (aloud) out of my great great Uncles journal. He had the best stories and my imagination was always taken back to the early 1800's when he was a boy. To me, that was an excited and alien world.

I read any genre and have favorite authors from each, but I prefer fantasy. Fantasy writers tend to delve a bit more into and develop more fully the philosophy of their worlds. I find they also tend to create deeper relationships between characters which I enjoy.

Please keep writing! My copies of Lord of the Fading Lands and Lady of Light and Shadows are becoming quite tattered now. That is the hallmark signature of a well written book.

I remember my first true chapter book was a series called ‘Dealing with Dragons’ that I read in the 3rd grade. I knew from that point on that books where a good thing and you prolly couldn’t separate me from them even if you beat me lol. I grew up with the Harry Potter books too, I was the same age as he was as each new book came out. However, the series that I believe changed my entire perspective on reading was The Dark Elf Trilogy. Freakin AWESOME fantasy based on a drow elf warrior, who decides to follow a different path than of his evil race and kicks butt all the while. Hey my dream is to go camping in the woods and have both Rain Tauren Soul and Drizzit Do’urden to protect me all the while I act like a helpless girl. IS IT TOO MUCH TO ASK? Lol

I first started reading western books written by Zane Grey in my early teens. I read every book he had out, as my public library had them all. Then my aunt gave me a box full of Harlequin Romance pbs and I was hooked. I went from there to reading Fantasy, most by Anne McCaffrey. Then it was back to romance as there were so few fantasy authors I enjoyed.

Currently I'm reading Paranormal, occasionally Mystery/suspense romance and of course Fantasy again thanks to your Fading Lands series.

I found Lord of the Fading Lands prior to it's release on Christine Feehan's website. Loved the excerpt posted there and bought the book as soon as possible.

One of the best purchases I ever made !!!

Both of my parents are avid readers, and I grew up surrounded by books. By the time I left elementary school I'd read nearly everything in the library. In high school I picked up one of Anne McCaffrey's Pern books and brought it home, and when Dad saw it he hauled out his own collection of Pern novels for me to have! I've always loved fantasy and science fiction and when I saw Lord of the Fading Lands in a drugstore I was skeptical (flying cats? Drugstore novel?) but I took a peek inside and grabbed it... and had to grab Lady before I even finished the first one!

Donnye, Rain, and Cheryl (Dunnedeal), I'm so glad you picked up the books! :)

Meljprincess--I *adored* Misty of Chincoteague and the related books. I lived in Maryland at the time, so that added a special connection to the books.

AmandaB - I can't imagine losing my dad so young, but he must have been wonderful. And he left you one of the best gifts in the world - a love of books.

Haley - someone was sending you a message :) I love how you came to discover Christine's books and thru them mine.

ANNA - life with a not-nice father is something I don't even want to imagine. I'm lucky to have a dad I adore, and I wouldn't trade him for the world. I'm glad you had reading as your escape. (My mom read to me all the time too--she says that was the only time I would let her hold me for any length of time--LOL.)

Kerwyn - how fascinating and thrilling to have access to a journal from a family member who wrote about life generations before. I envy you. I once spent hours with my grandmother looking through all the photographs she'd taken in the 1910's and '20s as a young girl in texas farmland. I hope you still have those journals!

(AmandaB - thanks for the catch...and thanks to the magic of deletion my boo boo is no more! *g*)

Bridget - LOL on Rain and Drizzt...I totally need to read some of the Dark Elf series.

Janet - Zane Grey and Harlequins...yahoo. :) I read a few Zanes, but then I found romance and was utterly hooked. And Anne McCaffrey...oh, adored her Dragonriders of Pern. Still love them.

Tribblehappy - I'm so glad you picked them up! And the truth is, the tairen actually started out as dragons!! They're still very dragonish, just furrier and purrier. LOL.

Tiffany - I love Christine's books, and Dark Gold (the one that featured the LORD excerpt) helped me thru the loss of my grandfather, so it's always been a special book to me.

I came to be a reader of your work by seeing a review for it on a website and thinking it sounded interesting enough to buy at a bookstore. I'm really glad I did because it is now one of my favorite series to read and reread. I can't wait to read King of Sword and Shadow! I love basically all genres of books but my favorites are romance, mystery, & sci-fi.
P.S. I started reading books in general early on because my mom is a big reader too and she kind of passed on that love and interest to me.

I cannot remember a time when I was not a reader.

I was three when my mother realized I could read. She had bought a new Dr. Seuss book, and she sat down to read it to me, but she never got the chance. I started to read it to her!

My love of reading came from my mother - every spare minute she had, she was curled up on the couch with a book. From her I learned that all books have value, fiction, nonfiction - even textbooks!

I do not restrict myself to one genre....ANYTHING goes! In the past month I have read fantasy, sci fi, horror, medical thrillers, biographies, and a textbook on paramedic procedures.

I am looking forward to King...the Amazon website says it was shipped out today - I cross my fingers and hope it arrives tomorrow!

I should also add that the saddest thing I have ever seen, was a bookcase full of pristine books. It was obvious that they had never been opened, never been read....I just want to take such books home and love them!

The quality of the story inside is in direct proportion to the amount of wear on the cover. My most-loved books are falling apart.

I started out reading books about indian romance. I stopped reading for awhile and decided to start up again. I moved on to highlander romances and I still read those, but only one author. I am really into paranormal romances, they are so exciting to me. I read them because it is an escape of reality. So of the paranormal romance I read base their characters in times of today and it is neat to think that maybe these exciting people really do live among the "humans" and fighting a war that we don't know about. :)

I skipped yesterday's question as I am still rereading.

Like many people I got my love for reading from my mother. She used to read me stories from a very early age and continued to do so when I was able to read myself. She would read me fairytales and stories about the knights of the round table.

I have a lot of different tastes in reading. Ranging from literature to romance. To me it is more important that a story has an interresting plot and believable characters then what genre it is. I also love to read non-fiction especially psychology, history and biographies.

All in all it keeps me busy. :)

I have no idea where my love of reading comes from. No one in my family reads! I started my love of reading with the Little House on the Prairie books in grade school! Reading for me is like taking a little vacation.Especially now that I am a mom of 3 year old triplets. I depend on a good book for a little break!!
I started with Lady of Light and Shadows. I was grocery shopping and decided to get a new book. The cover attracted me to it. I read it and loved it. However I was mad when I realized that it was the second book. I quickly fixed that and read the first one.
My favorite reads are historical romance, paranormal romance and fantasy!

I've always been an avid reader, at least since I learned to read. Before that, I drove my mom crazy asking her to read me one book after another and "just one more," which always turned out to be several more.
I started reading Lord of the Fading Lands because I saw the cover had an endorsement from Christine Feehan, who is one of my favorite authors, and decided to give it a try. I was hooked from the first chapter and then made all my friends read it :-)
I'll read almost any genre, but I'm a romance junkie. I love a happily ever after.

Hey Cheryl,
My mom would read Louis L'Amor everynight to us before bed (I was really young.) Then, I started reading Shakespeare around eight or nine and it just kept growing from there. I love all books. I found romance when I was 12 or 13 and smuggled my mom's Barbara Cartland from her room. I read it by flashlight and fell in love. I love Stephen King, Anne Rice, Christine Feehan and of course you! I love the thrill and mystery of every genre, but romance is my absolute favorite. Oh and I love Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum series. I like anything that makes me feel!! It is the most amazing feeling to go into another world and forget the outside for just a few hours.

Caitlin - god bless your mom :) Parents who give their children the gift of reading give the best gift of all besides love!

Patricia - I love it! Bet you surprised your mom! I love that you read so widely. I'm eclectic, but I confess it takes a LOT for me read outside romance, fantasy, and the occasional political/social commentary book. I watch a lot of Discovery channel though *g*

Dragon Lady - I used to love indian romances, too. They're starting to come back. I loved Ride the Wind by Lucia St Clair Robson; and one of my favorite non-romance indian romances was Ghost Fox by James A. Houston (set in 1700's about a girl kidnapped by Abnaki indians during the French/Indian war (same timeframe as Last of the Mohicans). Also, A Light in the Forest, by Conrad Richter, is an excellent non-romance American indian story.

Mieke-we missed you yesterday, but hope you enjoyed your reading-fest! :) I love Knights of the Roundtable stories :) Love the whole King Arthur mythology.

Betsy - Little House! Oh, i loved those! Read them all! Read all the way up to the Rose Wilder books, too, but for some reason those never captivated me as much as the Little House ones did.

Jackie B - it's amazing how many of us own our love of reading to moms. :) And I'm glad you're enjoying the quotes. I'm having a blast pulling them out each morning.

Janet - Here's to horsey love! ;P My oldest started riding when she was 4, but after moving down here, we had a lapse in riding and haven't managed to get them back into it. Working on that.

Julie - I never read Trixie Beldon. Nancy Drew - oh yes. LOL. We had the whole hardback collection and read them all!!

Hi,

Yes I still have all the old journals and other neat letters and photo's going back to 1760 (and beyond). I am an avid genealogist. This is much like reading fantasy. It describes a world that does not exist and never did when compared to the dry history classes we all suffered through. Legends and myths become more truth than fiction while the old unbelievable stories suddenly are fact. Some of the letters have information in them that alters completely the perception of the present when compared to the reality of the past.

In application, this is much like your writing. A weave of past and present, myth and legend mixed in with a nice dollop of supposedly logical disbelief *laughs*. It is so nice to have our disbelief suspended and then shattered in the face of a walking myth! You do that so very well in the lovely world you have created for all of us to share. Thank you for sharing...

I've liked reading since I was in grade school, but I started reading avidly in middle school when my mom brought me back two of that month's Silhouette novels for me. I've been hooked on romance novels ever since! As for your books, I first picked up Lady at my local Walmart, and loved it so much I finished it in a few days. Then when I found out Lord existed I ran out right away and found it!

Hence, my favorite genre is romance, but I also read Trade Fiction when it strikes my fancy.

My second grade teacher used to read The Magician's Nephew in class and I was so impatient to find out what happened next that I actually took the book out of the school library and started to read it on my own. That began my love of reading and why the Chronicles of Narnia hold such a special place in my heart. I've been a voracious reader ever since, although as I've gotten older, I've become more picky in what I read since I have far less time to read for pleasure.

I think I mentioned this in one of the earlier posts, but I discovered Lord of the Fading Lands from amazon.com recommendations. I had just finished reading Sharon Shinn's Archangel books back in November (on a recommendation from a fellow Harry Potter fan) and so I was on the lookout for something similar. I read the excerpt of Lord on amazon.com which intrigued me and I saw that a sequel (Lady) was already out so I skimmed the first two chapters of Lord at the bookstore and I was hooked. I bought and devoured them both within two days. I know that after I finish King, the wait for Queen will probably be excruciating, though well worth it I'm sure.

I love L'Engle, LLoyd Alexander, Susan Cooper and a less well known Canadian author, O. R. Melling, to name a few. I also adore L. M. Montgomery, Laura Ingalls Wilder, Louisa May Alcott and Jane Austen. LOL, most of my favourites are "classics" or childrens/YA books!

In addition to the above, I also love regency/ historical romances and mysteries.

Darlene - christine is always a great choice! :) Have fun on your vacation, and I hope you enjoy KING!

Lisa - love all those authors! Adored the Stand by Stephen King (that remains my favorite of all his books. I was riveted.).

Kerwyn - history is amazing, and far more "real" when seen through the eyes of someone who was there. What a treasure you have in those journals! I can't wait to get to the scene in QUEEN when some long-held beliefs get shattered! hehehe!

Robin - romance has turned so many readers into avid readers (and so many non-readers into readers!). I always read historical romance or fantasy until I discovered Harlequin and Silhouette. Nora Roberts.... Janet Dailey.... Stephanie James (Jayne Krentz)... Linda Howard... so many of my favorite authors began with the series books.

Rebekah E...I haven't ever read RL Stine, but my middle daughter adores them. I've glanced through one or two, and bought them for Rhi practically by the truckload! lol.

~Katie~ we will have to talk Fantasy one day... have you read Terry Goodkind's Wizard's First Rule? soooo good!

Katiebabs - I never would have picked you for a horror fan *g* but I agree Stephen King writes a fascinating and compelling tale.

AmandaB *g* (thanks again)

Noreen - love your story. And OMG! Another Sharon Shinn Angels fan!!! I *adore* those books. Love them. I do a workshop on "Dazzle 'em with Description" and the mass the archangel and his angelica sing at the end of Archangel is one of the passages I quote as being one of the most amazing, emotionally gripping descriptive passages I've ever read. I almost wept when I read it. The words are perfect.

I became a reader rather slowly because I was unable to read a book until my learning therapist introduced me to books on tape. Four years after that I started to read regular books without the audio background. The first few were general science fiction books, primarily Orson Scott Card, but I have branched out to Romance, Mystery-Suspense in the Tami Hoag/JD Robb style, Fantasy, and Historical Non-Fiction. I love reading all things and try to read at least three books a week. I also love crossover books, such as yours and Karen Rose (Romance/Mystery). I found these books when I was waiting to board an overnight plane and I did not sleep a wink on the entire flight, I was so engrossed. Luckily for me I had both of the beginning books to read.

I read a little clip of Lord in one of my all time favorite author's books Christine Feehan. At first I though it was her next book and was so excited, then I read that it was actually written by a person named CL Wilson and was so upset, becasue I LOVE this chapter by an author I had never heard of before. So I ran down to my basement and logged on to CL Wilson's website only to discover that I had to wait four months for the book to even come out. :( But it was ok I got Lord the first week it came out, and had the day off from school the day that Lady came out. So you would think that I would be able to get it the day it was suppost to come out right, no, the store had no copies. Thanks for that Boarders. I'm not patient by nature and I was only able to get through the last year by counting down each month. It didn't help when the excerpt came out because that only made me more excited.
I am a purely excapist reader and what is better to excape into than fanasy and Romance. Is it any wonder I love Paranormal Romance? It is the best of all my worlds. Seven Days Can't Wait!!!!!!

A friend of mine had picked up the first book, yet hadn't gotten a chance to read it yet (mostly due to her reading a book from Feehan that I borrowed her). She wanted me to read it and tell her what I thought. Well I end up loving it and went to a local book store and picked up the second one right away.

I became a reader in general due to I am not a big TV person, in fact at home we currently only have the 'free' local channels and it’s on mostly as back ground. I find it allows you to expand your imagination and your creativity, so in turn I have my children read more then watch TV or play vid/computer games.

I enjoy reading romances that have anything to do with vampires, shape shifters, Fae/Faye or 'Dark Fantasy'. I also enjoy the historical type like the "Earth Children Series" or also known as The Clan of the Cave Bear Series.

Mehwish - books have always been a joy. And this may sound wierd, but my best friend and I used to get together and just read (each with our own books). Reading has been a long-standing connection between us - even today, 30+ years later!

Noreen - I do love those books. And lol on the review :) I'll take it!

TrulyWonderful - i adore Walmart for their great prices on new books and the generally wonderful selection.

Kathy - Tolkien and Woodiwiss! 'Nuff said! :)

Lady Wildcat (Khalida) - a 200 year old Victorian house in Manchester, England. I am DROOLING in envy!!! My DH is British - his family lives up in Coventry (Nuneaton). LOL on the confiscated library cards!

Cristina - love them all, and Karen Rose is a dear friend whom I adore even more that I adore her fabulous books! (She's a wonderful person as well as an incredible writer!) And not meaning to sound selfish, but I'm glad the books kept you up on that plane! *gg*

Question of the Day: How did you come to be a reader, and what are your favorite types (genres) of book to read?

I was hooked a long time ago when I was little although it wasn't until within the last five years that I have become addicted. When I was young, I would go with my mom to our local used bookstore, which still exists today with the same owner and once a month when the book mobile came around we would pick some out.
About 5 years ago I began working in a local crime lab. Once I am at work I don't leave until it's time to go home. Sometimes its a long day because I'm subject to work as departments bring out evidence to me. During the winter months its really slow. So being board, I picked up books more regularly. In my late teans and early adult years, I read Tami Hoag- But once you start working a job similar to books you read those stories then didn't keep my interest anymore. So I went to Walgreens and bought not knowing anything about Christine Feehans books. I lucked out also in that it was the very first book in her Carpathian Series and Have Been Unstoppably Hooked Ever Since!! Anything Vamp & Wolf is a guarentee buy along with approx 800other books in my growing TBR Pile of other paranormals, fantasy & sci-fi/romance books. Speaking of which she (Feehan) is were I learned about you on her website last year when your first two books were released. I am very guilty though... I have not read you yet. I buy my series and read them in book order as they release and won't start reading those stories until I have at least 3 books in a row from that author. I feel you fall into that world authors are writing about that then also stays with you no matter how many other books you read and that is why I Can't Wait for September 30th to get here, So that I can finally read you :)Have a great day, Stephanie

Laura - I will be looking for you!!! :)

Melanie - thanks so much for posting :) i hope you enjoy KING when you get a chance to read it. And I love your daughter's name. you know, one of my dear friends, author Carla Capshaw, named her son Deverell after Ruark Deverell Beauchamp from Shanna *g*

Jetty - I love your "finding the Fading Lands" story. Thank you so much for sharing it! (And you can ask the Borders store to pre-order a book for you any time you like. They will - at no charge to you - and will call you when it comes in!

Cwolffire - I love that you read instead of watch TV. I watch TV in the evening (much more than I used to!) but that's because my family wants me to come sit with them and share their favorite shows with them...and, okay, now I'm hooked on The Closer, Bones, and House! LOL. I really enjoyed Jean Auel's books. Clan of the Cave Bear was an incredible read!

Currently I am very much stuck on paranormal romance and urban fantasy (still can't get enough of Kate Daniels).

And I think I'm with the majority here about drooling over the Fading Land series and can't wait to see how it all wraps up. (june is sooooooo far away!)

Hiya,

I have always read. I was one of those kids that only had three states. Reading, swimming or sleeping. I swam for a lot of years and you can imagine the downtime between races. I cant believe I am going to say this however this was a time before walkmans and ipods etc. I'd grab a book and read to tune out everything that was going on around me while waiting for a race or a presentation. My Grandmother had the best bookshelf. I used to sit in the corner of their lounge room under the windows and read. Violet Needham, L. M. Montgomery, Laura Ingalls Wilder, Louisa May Alcott and Jane Austen etc. Who remembers books like "What Katy Did" and What Katy did Next? I read the Nancy Drew and Trixie Belden as well. AT about 12 I got hooked onto Anne McCaffrey and have read her books over and over again. What genres do I read? I'd have to admit to all except horror. Call me chicken but after trying to read Dracula at the age of 9 and giving myself nightmares for years after I steer clear. YOu name the genre and I probably have it on my book shelf some where. For me its not really about the genre but how the author writes. If the author makes it a believable story I will continue to read it. I have gone off romance ie Mills & Boons in the last year or so. Was just tired of the same formula over and over. Rich man meets poor girl. Rich business man falls for poor secretary,,, you get the gist.
My in laws dont read. The only books they used to have at their house were encyclopedias. The first time I stayed there after our son was born, I sat and read some of them because I had nothing else. Then when my son woke up we scootered down to the local second hand book shop and picked up some books lol. I was horrified that there were no books. Now if we go over there to stay I have a book bag that goes with me. My husbands grandpa is a closet romance reader but I have been working on expanding his genres. He now has CHristine Feehan, Anne McCaffrey, Rebecca York and definately has Ms C.L Wilson. He is more impatient than me for KOSS to come out.

Hmm, I think I started reading at four. "No story" was a worse punishment than cereal for dinner; in fact, it was the end of my little world at the time! I have fond memories of my parents reading the entire LOTR series to me, chapter by chapter, while growing up. I think we finished a little bit into my freshman year of high school (shhh!).

Books were always much better company than people; I was the "odd one out" for years, because I treated everyone like adults. Everyone, not just adults...

I'm also one of those kids who would read mom's lesson plans, or the back of the cereal box, if there's nothing else on the table to read.

I love good hardcore SF (with real science in it), and fantasy; occasionally I'll read biographies, though not so much now. Same goes for "literary fiction", and some non-fiction.

I love books that sweep me off my feet. I am a closet romantic. It started with LOTR, and progressed to Mary Stewart, then Beowulf, then Colleen McCullough and Anne McCaffrey, and on from there... and it shows no sign of stopping! I'll read most anything anyone recommends for any reason, or even random books in the bargain bin at the grocery store...

I enjoy romance, horror, historical fiction and anything with a story I might seem interested in. Sometimes a book that I normally wouldn't read will just kind of jump out at me. With Lady of Light and Shadows I literally had that happen. I was working at a bookstore and that book literally fell off the shelf and landed on my head, thank God it was soft cover. :)

After reading them, I was so impressed I wrote an email to CL Wilson. She is the only author I have ever written to. I can't wait for the release of King!!!

Stephanie - The Crime Lab job sounds fascinating, though boo hoo it stopped you from reading Tami's wonderful books. I totally understand about needing to "get away" though, and I'm glad you found Christine. When KING comes out and you get a chance to read LORD and LADY, I hope you'll enjoy them :) (And don't read the spoiler posts in T-8 and T-10!! (whoops, I thought those were safe Fading-Lands related questions!)

Aymeless - I love urban fantasy. Once I'm done with Winter King and three more Fading Lands books, I have an urban fantasy series I'd really love a chance to write! :)

Bek - love your post. I never tried Dracula, if you can believe it, but I adored the Bram Stoker's Dracula movie starring Sirius Black (lol..okay Gary Oldman) I adore your grandfather for reading my books! :) I do hope he likes KING.

Soveh - I'm glad you found the books :)

Maya - I love that your parents read a chapter a night of LOTR to you! What a wonderful gift! If I were more of a science nerd, i might adore Sci Fi, but I don't get enough of the science to get a thrill from it. Give me a good sci-fi with a wrenching emotional story and gripping characters at the focus, however, and I'm totally there! Adored Colleen McCullough's The Thornbirds!

I cannot remember a time I did not love books. When I was little I was read to before I went to sleep at night. Then, when I learned to read, I would read right before I went to bed as a special treat after homework. My friends in high school were big readers, and we would discuss and share books during lunch and after school.

My first books were the little golden books and fairy tales. I then went on to read children's books, ate up the books in school, and read series like sweet valley jr. high and the baby-sitters club when I was still in elementary school. In high school, I was a big fan of fantasy (ya, adult, romance). I read romance here and there, nonfiction, women's fiction, chick-lit. I have my moods. Whatever I feel like at the time is my favorite. Right now I am into rewritten fairy tales and fantasy stories, though the last book I read was a paranormal ya.

One of my friends introduced me to your books, regaling me about how awesome they were. She and I are eagerly awaiting the release date of your third book!!! :)

I've loved reading books as far back as I can remember. Through these stories I could escape for an hour or two and be on some wonderful adventure while also giving my parents a break too (Lol). I first discovered the historical romances, mostly the westerns, at the local library and was hooked by authors like Catherine Anderson, Jodi Thomas, and Linda Lael Miller. Although I still enjoy a good western; my true love is the Fantasy and Paranormal world. While looking for something new and exciting at a bookstore I found Alice Borchardts The Silver Wolf trilogy and Loved It!! From there I found Christine Feehan and also loved all of her books. At her website she mentioned a new series was coming about by C.L. Wilson and after reading the summary I was hooked...yet again. Lol. I love The Tairen Soul series and anxiously await the release of the next two books! A very unique/intriguing series and a must buy!!

While waiting for the next Tairen Soul book I couldn’t stop my thirst for more adventures. Lol. So I’ve slowly discovered both new books and older ones that for me became instant classics in paranormal romance. Some of my favorite authors include Christine Feehan, Kresley Cole, Nalini Singh, Karen Marie Moning, Jacquelyn Frank, and Lynsay Sands.

I became a reader when I was in grade school. I had very low test scores and one of the teachers finally realized that I wasn't reading. I would have someone else tell me what the assignment was. Mrs. Donohue got me into a reading class and the rest as they say is history. I have been reading nonstop ever since. My all time favorite genre of book to read is romance/fantasy. Most of the time reality bites so I read as an escape from it all. It helps me relax. I also read sci-fi, mystery and horror but rarely.

When did I become a reader? I really don't know. I remember in second grade going to the library and making the teacher mad. That school library was divided into books that beginner readers could read and then those for in the upper elementary grades. I was checking out the books for the upper grades. She let me check one out but then I had to prove I could read it especially since I wasn't in the highest reading group. I could, she was shocked and I continued on. Most report cards had a line like reads books when should be doing other work. By middle school and summer vacation, I drove our poor library nuts. We had a book mobile that came out to the rural areas so people could check out books. I would take the max number of books from there and then pester my mom to take me into town to the real library for more books. I remember one year complaining about not finding anything to read, and being told to start with A and when I got to Z to let my mom know. I made it to Zane Grey that year. I still don't go anywhere without a book or two or more.

What do I read? Almost anything. I don't like horror or true crime. I like books with a solid story line and likeable characters. Happy ending are greatly appreciated.

Since I can remember my mother was a big reader. Not only did she read books to me every night, she would make up her own stories that I always thought I were the best books ever. It wasn't until I was much older that I found out that those stories weren't written down in a book and that she had created them.

Growing up with a mother like mine, who was imaginative and kept books everywhere around the house, I began reading as soon as I was able to sound out words.

I love reading Fantasy, Romance, Science Fiction, Historical Fiction, Horror... Just about anything I can get my hands on.

Pretty much any genre you can name and I've probably read a book in that category. I'll read any genre but I do tend to gravitate toward fantasy and horror or paranormal themes including, of course, romance novels. The most important aspect for me is characterization. I need total immersion in a book or I'll get bored and move on to another, there are just so many I want to read.

I started reading romances at around age 9 or so. My mom worked in a warehouse and was able to buy their products at a discount and she knew I loved to read, so she brought me books. They were probably even pre-Harlequins, you know the ones that had about 180 pages and probably wouldn't even be readable now. I've been hooked ever since.

I mostly read romance, but I prefer something other than just romance. By that I mean I like a little mystery and mayhem, magic and mages and Fey. Pretty much your world, Cheryl. The question is a bit ambiguous, I suppose:
I started reading when I was a little kid, my parents would let me stay up a half-hour/hour after bedtime if I spent that time reading. I read everything I could get my hands on, from the Narnia series to the Hardy Boys/Nancy Drew.

As for how I started reading this series:
I saw an advertisement for "Lord" in the back of one of the books I was reading. It caught my attention but got distracted then forgot which book it was in that day. I searched back through all of the books I had read that day to find the advertisement. I ordered it immediately from Amazon and fell in love...

I read all sorts of fiction books in varying genres, but my favorites have to be romantic fantasy (like this series) and romantic paranormal (such as the Dark books by Feehan).

I've already preordered "Queen of Song and Souls" from Amazon and now can't wait until June of next year when it is supposed to come out.

LOL, you expect me to remember that far back, Cheryl?? I don't remember how old I was, but it grammar school and Mrs. Murray is the one who handed me a book just to read for pleasure. No homework, just something for me. I was hooked. I lived at the library after that. Then I discovered Doubleday and their book club -- they'd deliver books right to my door!! LOL, for a youngster that was heaven. I loved Victoria Holt and Phyllis Whitney and devoured all their books. Romance has always been my favorite, though I do enjoy a good Grisham or Baldacci and the like. But historical and paranormal romance is what I live for!

When I was very young my father used to read the Sunday comic strips to me from the newspaper. Because he started becoming too busy at work to read to me as much as I liked, I pushed myself to learn how to read myself and from there I just sort of took off reading everything I could get my hands on. Shortly after kindergarden I got addicted to Nancy Drew and the Hardy Boys. From there I branched off while growing up. I moved into fantasy books, then romance, then historical romance and finally paranormal romance. Paranormal romance is my favorite genre now although I still read a little of everything.

Hmmmm...unfortunately I cannot remember when the reading bug hit me, it just always seems to have been there. The first books I remember becoming addicted to though were the Baby-Sitters Club books when I was around nine. I tore through all the ones that were out then and promptly started reading all the other book series that were out for girls and there were a heck of a lot of them too.

A few years later I discovered L.M. Montgomery and she's stayed with me my whole life. I still reread all her books and find the same joy in them now that I did back then. It's so wonderful when your love for a book doesn't diminish over time.

Right now I'm really into romance (especially paranormal & historical with a few contemporaries thrown in for good measure) although I only started reading them a few months ago around Memorial Day! One day I was looking for a title I thought would be in the Science Fiction/Fantasy aisle when I turned around and realized it was in the Romance aisle. I soon discovered that all my ideas about what Romance was were outdated, decades old stereotypes. Romance can be *anything* and I'm ashamed I didn't try it sooner!

I also love fantasy, reimagined fairy tale type books, young adult urban faerie books (Holly Black's books set off a spark in my heart last spring which led me to old school urban fantasy like Charles de Lint & Emma Bull to new urban fantasy which led me to paranormal romance!), Jane Austen & Georgette Heyer (these ladies almost seem like genres of their own!), pretty much anything that takes me away. I much prefer reading about the past or fantasy worlds or regular worlds with fantasy in them then regular life things that I see every day. A regular contemporary book has to be really spectacular for me to want to read it.

I discovered your books around July. At the time (although I'm still doing that now!) I was tearing through romance blogs in a whirlwind trying to find as many recommendations as I could. I don't remember the specific blog review that made me order Lord of the Fading Lands from the library but I hadn't even finished the whole book when I knew I had to go out & buy a copy for my very own along with Lady of Light & Shadows. I had to go to a bookstore an hour away to find them but it was worth the drive!

With Lord of the Fading Lands I had the overwhelming feeling that it was the book I'd been wanting to read my whole life but just didn't know where it was. Everything I'd ever wanted in a book was there. It was just so beautiful. This feeling has only happened to me one other time before & that was with Holly Black's Tithe.

Thank you for writing this series!

I don't remember when I learned to read. When my class started to read the "See Sally run" type of books I was so bored and used to get in trouble for reading ahead. Finally the teacher relented and allowed me to read more advanced books. I read just about anything but prefer historical romances and fantasy. Kathleen Woodiwiss' Wolf and the Dove got my hooked. The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings introduced me to world of magic and fantasy. I found your first book while browsing at the bookstore. I waited anxiously for the second one and am counting down the days to number three.

I began reading romance as a preteen. My mom and sister-in-laws read romance and I got hooked on them by reading their books.
I love historical, contemporary, paranormal romances. I am a big fan of romance

I come from a family of readers, we all started out looking at the pics before our first birthdays. Suspense and legal thrillers pass the rounds among the family, and I do like them; but my favorites are historical romance and paranormals/fantasy, can't get enought of them.
