I am so excited that King of Sword and Sky is almost here! My husband rags on me for pulling out the previous two books on a regular basis to reread them. I just love them that much!

I have already gotten two of my friends addicted to the series as well! That is after one of them game me hard time about romance novels. She read them both in one night because she couldn't put them down! LOL!

My favorite place to go online for book recommendations is GoodReads. Not only do you get great recomendations and reviews, you also can meet authors and see what they are reading. I love this site. Link: http://www.goodreads.com/

Amazon.com and Barnesandnoble.com and then various Yahoo readers groups that I belong to. I've found quite a few new authors (including you!) from these groups.

I have various ways of getting information on books to read online:
* Book Sellers (Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Borders ...): browsing through various genres and looking for certain authors' books, then reading the comments on the books or further recommendations on the page.
* Authors' websites (this one, Feehan, J.R. Ward, Nalini Singh,...): reading their recommendations or what other commenters say about the books or others.
* Publishers' websites (such as dorchesterpub.com, eHarlequin.com, eBooks.com,...)
* Author's message boards (such as J.R. Ward's Black Dagger Brotherhood Message Board) or Yahoo email groups (such as Christine Feehan's yahoo group).
* Following links from one author's website to others and so on to find lesser known authors...
* And finally, Publisher's Weekly (Ladies Book Club Blurb, etc [http://www.publishersweekly.com]) and some of the other book review sites (bookreview.com, www.romantictimes.com, theromancereader.com, …)

My two favorite ways to read reviews about books, is to look on amazon.com and go to some of my favorite author's web pages. The main reason I love Amazon, is because when you order from them, they keep that order and give you selected recommendations, so you find authors and stories that you normally, would know nothing about, plus they have a discussion board to write what you think of the book on there and you can read what others thought. On a few of my favorite author's webpages, they have their favorite books and/or a list of authors that they like. I have two examples of these; On Stephenie Meyer's webpage, she has a link you can go and it sends you to amazon(See why its my fav) to her favorite lists with reviews and synopsis of the books. Then another example would be the Cl Wilson myspace page, where you see listed favorite authors...One can then plug in this information on amazon, or google the authors name to find out more about them. I actually, got started reading Terry Goodkind from the Cl Wilson myspace page. --Anna Holmes

Gena Showalter is one of my auto-buy authors, and she frequently recommends books in her posts. She also has a habit of asking "Read anything good lately?". Reading through the comments on those posts yields a lot of good books.

My first stop is always The Good, The Bad, and The Unread, then from there I might check out other blogs they recommend. I also check author sites if I stumble across someone I'm unfamiliar with. Sometimes I'll go to Amazon, but I prefer recommendations from friends. So I always pay attention to those recs I get from the book/reader yahoogroups I'm in.

I tend to meander through the tulips lol oops I meant web sites. On any given day you can see me browsing through Amazon in the "recommended for you books" and the discussions as well as the blogs. I have found myself on occassion looking at one book, reading the blurb, looking at the list of books people bought with it or by the same author go look at those books read and repeat and go from there. As other posters mentioned, I go to Good Reads, I belong to some author's loops, a paranormal yahoo group, some authors web pages. Blogs that come up in discussions ie Dear Author, Smart Bitches (just added Leontines blog lol) ummm recommendations from friends both oline and in RL, I get a kinda magazine from Rendevous book store, got my hands on an RT magazine without breaking the bank and probably lastly, if I go to any website like an authors web site or Dear author et al,, I always check the links pages and go look at authors sites that they recommend. The internet for me is on big library where you just have to figure out the right words to type in to get what you are after

Super congrats on all your success!!!
Can't wait to see what happens in King :D
Usually I give Amazon.com a good browsing, since I buy off there quite a bit they give you recommendations based off what you buy.Otherwise I just cruise into the local bookstore and browse the fantasy section for a few hours.
I don't have too many friends that read like I do, so I usually just go off of an "instinct" I guess you'd call it. :D

I go to Barnes and Noble and check out the top ten books, also Amazon has a handy search bar that has lists upon lists of books that are similar to the book that you are looking for. I go to several authors blogs which provides me the lastest news on which books are coming out.

First off, I must say that I can't wait to read King of Sword and Sky!

My favourite places online for book recommendations are usually amazon.com, amazon.ca or chapters.ca.

In fact, that's how I heard about Lord of the Fading Lands and Lady of Light and Shadow. I followed recommendations and links from amazon.com and amazon.ca that lead me to your website and the rest as they say is history.

Well, I've been known to check out different books on Amazon.com but I have other places that I normally go. I no particular order....I find www.epinions.com a good place to get opinions on lots of stuff. So, I might check out a book and then a car and then a game or whatever. I have to watch because I can spend hours there. The other place is www.nightowlromance.com They have reviews, trailers and interviews. Twice a month there are chats with several different authors letting you know what they are doing and they do a great question and answer thing. I can't say I've heard of all the authors that I've talked to but I've been introduced to a lot of good books. Then every now and then, someone I trust mentions an author they really like and then I'm off to check them out!

Watching the clock....

I like the recommendations that you get when you search for a book on chapters. It tells you what other people who read the same stuff like to buy.

my favorite websites:

there are plenty:

I love to go the big american and english bookstores like amazon, barnes and noble and play.com. Especially Amazon is a favorite because here readers can make lists of their favorites. And I will take the review of a fellow reader over a professional reader any day. And some sites have the useful: If you like this, you might like...

Shelfari, looking around what others are reading and recommending, plenty of reader groups there as well.

Realms on our bookshelf. A dutch forum [there is an english section as well] These girls read so much, my wishlist has exploded since I joined!

Other forums.

Webpages of authors, some will tell you what they are reading and enjoying. And if I like that authors style I will try what they recommend.

Some publishers websites, although I tend to forget those too often. Baen is a site that I check often for example.

But I am also still an oldfashioned girl who will go to a bookshop to hold books, smell them, fall in love with the covers and read the blurbs on the back. To be honest I still find a lot of new authors that way.

So a mix for me.

Mieke

You guys are good! Some great ideas here. Many of them I visit myself - amazon, Realms on our Bookshelves, The Good Bad and Unread, Dear Author, SB, etc. But you did give me some new ideas too (literaryescapism.com is one I'll have to check out)!

I wish there were 48 hours in a day...just think of all the reading I could do! LOL
