8 Things About Me....

My friend Tawny Weber *tagged* me. I'm still learning blogland, so this is a first. Hope I get it right!

Here are the rules:
  • Players offer eight random habits/facts about themselves.
  • If you're tagged, write your own blog about your eight things and post these rules.
  • At the end of your blog post, choose someone to tag (supposed to be eight but however many you can do is fine, no tag police will come get you) - and list their names.

So...here goes my eight habits / factoids:

  1. I collect things. I am a magpie and a pack rat. It's like a genetic mutation. The things I collect (at the moment) are: unicorns, Lenox Legendary Princess figurines, Lladro figurines, old fashioned shoe figurines from Just the Right Shoe, Dept. 56 North Pole Village, Dept. 56 Dickens' Village, all the cute little "monger" (ie. street vendors) people from any of the non-Snow-Village villages, and a friend from Russia just started me on Fairy figurines (oh dear! Well, at least those are small!)
  2. I love to watch movies. Old movies (Greer Garson and Gary Cooper are two of my favorite old time actors), sci-fi / fantasy movies, thrillers / action adventure movies, and good romantic comedies are my favorites. One of my favorite actresses at the moment is Queen Latifah. I could watch Beauty Shop and Last Holiday until the cows come home. Oh, and I love to watch Jane Austen movies - Pride & Prejudice in all its versions especially.
  3. I love bling. My friends (and anyone who has read about my contest life) knows this. Sparkly, shiny, glimmery, shimmery. I love it.
  4. I love babies and children. There are few things as rewarding to me than spending time with children. From the cute, cuddly drooly infants to the curious toddlers to mischeivous adolescents. Children make you realize that life is precious.
  5. I love golf. I'm no good at it, but I still love it. After getting out on a golf cart and enjoying the beauty and serenity of rolling acres of fairways, I have at last learned the appeal of golf courses. My son and husband are avid golfers and quite good at it. If my son Aidan would practice (sigh) he could quite possibly take a stab at professional golfing.
  6. I used to be a gymnast in my (long ago) misspent youth. Tumbling was my best routine - arial cartwheels, handsprings, back walkovers. I gave it up when the school ran out of classes for me to take.
  7. I speak franglais. (That's francais and anglais or french and english, for those who may not know.) Fairly well, too! I took six years of French and spent 3 months backpacking around Europe - most of which you could get around easily through by speaking english or french. Or franglais. Comment ca va?
  8. I used to love to waterski. If I ever get skinny again I'll take it back up. My brother is (he says was) a semi-pro wakeboarder and is one of those people you might see doing flips and other crazy stunts on a wakeboard behind a ski boat.

I'm going to tag Diana Peterfreund, Vicki Lane, Erica Ridley, Anne Marie Carroll, Karen Rose, Kim Llewellyn, Betina Krahn, and Julie Leto.

Voici mon secret. Il est très simple: on ne voit bien qu'avec le cœur. L'essentiel est invisible pour les yeux. Le Petit Prince

Four years high school French, two years in college, still can't speak it. I can read a bit. And now trying to learn Spanish, I get confused and speak Franglish.
